I'm just so uncomfortable...
...THAT'S something I hear so often. From my adult female clients, in particular.
I mean...I get it.
I'm a 50+ female who has been through some stuff. Getting vulnerable when a camera that has the capability of picking up every wrinkle, pore, gray hair, pucker, and extra pound..it can be enough to create an insecurity so bad that I want to run for the hills.
But you know what??
We are so much more than that.
So much more than what we see in the mirror.
So much more than what society tells us about ourselves based on an ever-moving goalpost.
I'm not going to tell you it doesn't require a bit of courage to step in front of the camera, especially when we are struggling with the idea of self-acceptance and love.
But, dammit, don't we deserve to show up for ourselves?? Why do we feel like we have to check all of our boxes in order to allow ourselves to feel joy...feel successful...or dare I say....feel BEAUTIFUL??
I am here to give you permission to experience all of it. I've been working to walk that very walk myself.
I am here to tell you that you are worthy of joy and happiness and success and LOVING YOURSELF and all the damn things.
You have ONE LIFE.
Happiness should not be conditional.
We should celebrate ourselves every day.
Right now, make a commitment to be nicer to yourself. It is OK to be working toward something, and still be happy NOW.
And when you are ready, I am here to create portraits with the magnificent creature you are.
Love,
Nichole
P.S. I had a very similar conversation with Kim when she came in for her headshot this morning. I cannot wait to work with her again.
